Together for the Very First Time

If you’ve read any of our blog, you probably know I have two daughters, and two new granddaughters, born a month apart in the spring of 2009 (in addition to my grandson Owen).

Neither girl had ever met the other, and neither of my daughters had ever seen their nieces.  In fact, it’s been two years since my daughters, who are very close, have seen each other.   While Chelsie and her family live here, Hollie and her family have been living in Italy for the past three years.

But last week, we had the wonderful chance to have Hollie and Cecilia spend a week with us while Daddy, who’s an Air Force officer, was in Alaska finding a home for their new assignment in Fairbanks.

It was a whirlwind visit, but I had the chance to do some photographs; some of Cecilia by herself, some with her and her mommy, some with the two cousins, and some with us – the grandparents.

This is the first image I’ve finished, and while it’s of Cecilia by herself, I wanted to share it.  It matches one I did of Kennedy, my granddaughter who lives here, several months ago, so this gives us a matched set of the two girls.

I found this old wicker chair in a second hand store, and immediately bought it, with this kind of portrait in mind.  Something rather old and antique looking.  Cecilia is wearing an antique dress.

The erie thing is after we created Kennedy’s portrait in this similar style, we discovered that we have a picture of my mother – their great grandmother – at about the same age – IN A CHAIR VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL TO THIS ONE.  Without a doubt, I know Grandma Phyllis had a hand in me finding this chair.

We’ll post more as I have time to finish them.  But having taken the entire week off to enjoy having both my daughters and granddaughters together, I’m in catch-up mode.
