Nancy and Brandon’s Wedding
You’d normally expect June 20th to be a relatively warm, if not sunny, day here in the Willamette Valley. Why, it’s only one day short of the first day of summer.
Well, not this year. It was chilly, a little windy, a little sprinkly (is that a word?).
But in spite of all that, the day was warm and wonderful, because this is the day Brandon and Nancy got married.
And we got to create their wedding photographs!
June 20th is a special day. It’s either the day they met, or the day they had their first date (don’t tell them I can’t remember which). We did their engagement photographs exactly a year earlier, on June 20th, 2009, so indeed, it must be a lucky day for them.
Their wedding was held at the beautiful Cubanisimo Vineyard, high atop the West Salem hills. I suspect on a clear day, you could see nearly to Chicago from there, but that will have to wait until next time we’re there to tell for sure, because of the “June-uary” effect.
Debbie and Mauricio were warm and welcoming hosts as they opened their home and grounds to the wedding. And oh, what a beautiful house and a beautiful setting. The wedding took place looking out over the vineyard, with the whole central Willamette Valley as a backdrop.
Not only was it beautiful, but a culinary delight as well. The guests had the opportunity to experience some superb wines, along with wonderful food prepared by Wild Pear; our second Wild Pear wedding of the weekend. (I’ll admit to having a small glass of the wine after we were all done working and the equipment was put away).
Latin music was the theme of the reception, and it had the guests moving! Then, as a change of pace, the DJ put on Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline, which rapidly emptied the dance floor. Somehow, it just didn’t provide quite the same experience.
This was the second wedding we photographed for Brandon’s family,
and our first for Nancy’s, but since she has two younger sisters, we hope we’ll have the chance to work with them again.
Enjoy just a few of the wedding photographs from this great wedding.
And if you happen to know Nancy, congratulate her on how her new married name just rolled off her tongue when she called to make the appointment to come in and see what we captured. Nary a hesitation at all. After only two weeks.
Thanks Brandon and Nancy Burke for making us a part of your day. It was truly a pleasure to be your wedding photographers, and especially, your friends.
