Grandparents and Grandchildren – Family Portraits of a very special relationship

While Grandma got a great series of story-telling portraits with Cecilia, when it was Grandpa’s turn, she would really rather be doing something else, thank you very much! So we didn’t get a great series, but I love this one portrait, even if it looks like I’m holding her hostage! It’s really more of a Grandpas ARMS than a grandpa’s hands.
But in spite of her attitude at this very moment, I got to stock up on kisses while she was here. She’s such a sweet little thing.
And SMART! She’s learning sign language at the same time she learns to say her words, and she actually put together a sentence in sign language one night. She pointed to the dog, who was eating his dinner, and signed “dog” and then “eat”. We were AMAZED!
Family Portraits with young Children can be both rewarding and challenging
Working with children can always be a challenge, and I’ve learned that it’s much better to go with their flow, capturing them in the act of being themselves than it is to try to get them to conform to some pre-conceived idea of just how things should look in the portrait. Cecilia can be a little reserved and shy at times, and that’s a wonderful part of who she is, so whenever I see this portrait, I’ll know we captured the real her; the little girl whom we adore for exactly who she is.
Being a grandparent is my very favorite role in life, even better than being a parent. I plan on being an active part of these kids lives as they grow up, and I want them to not only have memories of their grandfather, but lots of visual reminders of just who this guy was that loved them so much. That’s why I’m so passionate about creating portraits of these relationships.
All too often, it’s shorter lived than we’d like it to be, so NOW is a great time to capture family portraits of this very special relationship.
If you’re a grandparent (or if you’re a grandchild), do it NOW. Our Grandma’s Arms and Grandpa’s Hands Family Portrait program will capture the love between you forever.
Give us a call and let us design something that will be treasured by generations to come, a beautiful family portrait featuring grandparents and grandchildren.
