I admit it; my eyes well up at the end of Hallmark Hall of Fame movies. Even those touching Hallmark commercials do it to me.
Same thing happens when I read any of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books.
I love wonderful stories of the relationships between people. That’s just who I am. That’s why I’ve chosen to be a portrait photographer; because I get to work with these stories on a daily basis. When I started, I thought it would be creating beautiful photographs that would be my passion. Well I was partly right; I do love creating wonderful portraits for my clients. But I quickly learned that my real passion was the people I got to work with, my clients, and the opportunity to really get to know them in the process. That’s the driving force, the realization that everyone in front of the camera is someone special.
So, as I pondered the Footprints on the Heart idea, it hit me that I’d love to collect stories as well. There’s a story behind everyone we photograph, usually having to do with why they chose now to be in front of the camera. There are stories of people that left their footprints on our clients hearts, even when they didn’t involve the creation of portraits. And indeed, even stories from those who simply happen across this website. Collect and share them on this website, simply for the benefit of those who love a touching story as well.
Who’s left footprints on YOUR heart? If you have such a story, we’d love to share it. How was your life changed? What impact did they have, and why do you celebrate your relationship with them? Would your story touch someone who read it?
We all have many of them. For me it might be my grandfather, who was my buddy when I was a little boy. Or my mom, who taught me that there are no strangers; just friends you haven’t yet met. Or my father, who taught me the value of hard work, and how to be the kind of man I should be.
It might be about my children, who showed me why I was put on this earth to begin with, or my grandchildren, who provide a never ending stream of love.
