Father’s Day Story Contest

Yeah, dad’s are pretty special people.  I speak from experience because I had one.  And I’ve been one.  Guess I still am when you come right down to it.

My dad’s been gone since 1983, but even after all these years, he lives on in me, in my children and in my grandchildren.  I even wrote  a short blog entry a few days ago as I realized that Father’s day was coming up.

So, in honor of Father’s day, and the official launching of the Footprints on the Heart website, we’d like to hear your stories about fathers (or grandfathers) and how they left their footprints on your heart, and their influence on your life.

And, as if honoring this special guy by sharing your best stories isn’t enough, we’re going to have some fun with it.

You’ll notice at the top of each post in the Stories category, there’s a “thumbs up symbol”.  When you click on that symbol, you cast a vote in favor of that story.

That means we can have our readers vote for their favorite story!  Cool.

But that also means we can have contests for the best story, which is exactly what we’re going to do.

The first will be for the best Father’s day related story submitted.  The winner gets a $200 studio gift certificate.

Just submit your story be the end of June.  Then, tell all your friends and family to visit the website and vote for your story (or at least for their favorite story).

We’ll keep track of the votes (which hopefully will show up on the side of the main page, if everything is working right).  Voting will go on through July, and at the end of July, the winner will receive their gift certificate.

In the works will be a “best story of the year” contest, or some variation.  Details are still being worked out, but the winner will get, at minimum, a complete portrait session and wall portrait package.  We hope to add some other nice prizes to the package as wel.

So, check out the “submitting stories” link above to learn how to submit your story.  Then dust off your keyboard, and your memories, and tell the world a Father’s day  related story about someone who’s left THEIR footprints on YOUR heart.
